For years, I considered going on a solo travel trip. But when it came down to the logistics of creating an itinerary, booking lodging, and feeling safe as a female traveler, I felt really overwhelmed. That all changed when I discovered Here and Now Travel.
Here and Now was started by Alex and Elise Coleman and specializes in curating unique travel experiences for young professionals. Whether you’re a solo traveler or seeking a group adventure, their passionate team of travel experts is dedicated to providing immersive and unforgettable experiences for groups of like-minded people.
Last April, I decided to book an impromptu vacation through Here and Now Travel for my first travel experience. I wanted to try something unique, and when I saw Costa Rica as one of the options, I immediately put down a deposit. I am so happy that I booked this trip because the experience was so memorable. I left Costa Rica with not only a new stamp in my passport, but unforgettable memories and new friends from cities across the country.

If you’re looking for the perfect travel experience, here is why you should consider Here and Now Travel to explore the wonders of Costa Rica:
- Expert Local Knowledge: Our hosts were a husband and wife duo who have lived in Costa Rica for many years. Their local expertise allowed them to craft an incredible itinerary that included visits to beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails, and cultural landmarks showcasing the best of the country.
- Sustainable Tourism: Here and Now prioritizes responsible travel. We stayed in the gorgeous Finca 360, a self-sustaining boutique hotel with extensive views of Costa Rica’s stunning landscapes. By partnering with eco-friendly accommodations and supporting local conservation initiatives, they ensure your trip has a minimal impact on the environment.
- Seamless Logistics: Planning a trip can be overwhelming, but Here and Now takes care of all the logistics for you. They provided us with transportation and lodging throughout the course of our trip, ensuring a stress-free experience. With a carefully crafted itinerary, we were able to make the most out of every moment in Costa Rica.
- Unique Experiences: The itinerary curated by Here and Now was so unique and authentic. The company collaborates with local communities, conservation organizations, and eco-lodges to give its guests a truly immersive experience. From zip-lining through lush canopies to exploring the rainforests, the experience goes beyond the typical tourist routes.

If you’re considering a solo trip with Here and Now Travel, here is a sneak peek of what you can expect:
Day One
Me and eleven other guests arrived at the San Jose airport. We were provided with private transportation to our stunning Finca 360 hotel. With breathtaking views of volcanoes, mountains, and national parks, I was pinching myself at the natural beauty surrounding me. We toasted to new beginnings with freshly squeezed mango juice and enjoyed a beautiful sunset setting the stage for our journey ahead.
Day Two
Rise and shine, because nature did not let me sleep in! At 7AM, I joined a guided yoga session against Costa Rica’s stunning backdrop, led by our hosts Val and Jay. Val had us focus on inhaling positivity and releasing negative energy – the perfect start to an adventure-filled day. Yoga was followed up by a refreshing hike to a picturesque waterfall and a dip in a natural swimming hole. Afterward, the coffee enthusiasts of the group were thrilled to visit a local eco-organic coffee plantation before some well-deserved downtime. We ended the evening with a delicious dinner (rice and beans and fresh watermelon juice with mint) dancing to salsa and merengue.
Day Three
We laced up our hiking boots and embarked on a thrilling hike that led us to the base of a breathtaking waterfall. We were rewarded with a refreshing swim, and cliff jump at a local watering hole. We recharged with a traditional Costa Rican meal, followed by an indulgent hour-long massage back at the hotel. After our massages, we were all given the option to plant a fruit tree on the grounds for a reforestation project. I planted an Italian Lemon plant and named it Lorenzo. At night, we ate a delicious pesto pasta dinner before a well-deserved sleep.
Day Four
We soared through the rainforest canopy with Ecoglide Ziplining. We each conquered eleven exhilarating ziplines, and a few people took the plunge with a Tarzan swing. Afterward, we headed to La Fortuna, home of the world-famous Arenal Volcano. On the drive over, we saw a few sloths and ended up at a natural hot spring, where we enjoyed mud masks and refreshing beverages. Our private bus then took us to town, where we explored the local shops and bought souvenirs. We then prepared for our final night together with a delectable dinner.
Day Five
I woke up and soaked in the panoramic views from Finca one last time. As we returned to the San Jose airport to go home, I was overcome with gratitude for creating new memories with a group of fantastic individuals.

With Here and Now Travel, my solo trip to Costa Rica was the adventure of a lifetime. Have you traveled with Here and Now? If so, leave your favorite moments in the comments!
